"Withstand" Inspired by Ephesians 6:10–18
"Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm."
— Ephesians 6:13
Amidst tangled roots and looming shadows, a young woman stands, poised and alert. Her eyes are fixed and unwavering. In her hand she holds a sword—not of steel alone, but symbolic of the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, as described in Ephesians 6.
This drawing is a meditation on the invisible war that surrounds us daily. The serpent, coiled in the tree behind her, alludes to the ancient deception in Eden—yet this time, the woman does not fall prey. She is armed. She is prepared. She stands.
Rendered entirely in charcoal, the piece relies on strong contrasts between light and darkness—symbolizing truth amidst deception, divine strength amid worldly chaos. Every stroke builds tension and atmosphere, with soft textures in her garments and sharpened lines in the sword and eyes, emphasizing both her gentleness and her readiness.
The model wears the "Found Princess" dress from ArmStreet, a beautifully detailed garment that enhances the medieval narrative and contributes to the timeless, sacred feel of the piece.

"Withstand" invites the viewer to reflect on what it means to be spiritually vigilant, grounded in Scripture, and strengthened by the armor of God.
